A calmer monsoon routine for indoor plants
Monsoon brings welcome humidity, softer light, and the occasional fungal surprise. The goal is not to do more. It is to improve airflow and avoid keeping roots wet for longer than they want to be.

Watch for
Slow-drying soil & leaf spots
Do more of
Airflow & leaf checks
Do less of
Routine watering
Keep in mind
Three useful things to remember.
- Open windows when the rain allows it, or give crowded plants more space.
- Remove yellow or damaged leaves promptly.
- Pause fertiliser if the plant is not actively growing.
Let the pot breathe
Make sure drainage holes are clear and saucers are not holding rainwater or old runoff. If a planter has been slow to dry for several days, move it into brighter indirect light before adding anything else.
Keep leaves dry at night
Water the soil instead of the foliage, especially later in the day. Moist leaves plus still evening air create an easy home for fungal spots.
Use the pause
Plants often grow more slowly during long stretches of grey weather. Treat that as a cue to observe rather than react. A missed watering is safer than an extra one when the soil is already damp.
